The peoples of the Far North — across Arctic Canada, Alaska, Greenland, Siberia, and Scandinavia — developed some of the most sophisticated cold-weather material cultures in human history. Their clothing, tools, and ways of living reflect generations of adaptation to extreme conditions, and remain among the most visually distinctive of any indigenous tradition.
This collection represents a family of four from the Far North: Woman, Man, Girl, and Boy, dressed in the layered winter clothing characteristic of Arctic indigenous peoples. The figures pair naturally with the Arctic Animals collection, which includes the sled dog alongside the polar and subarctic species of the region.
Learning about people of different times and cultures teaches not only respect and appreciation but also a lot of history, geography, material culture and spirituality. Here you can read more about why we make such figurines.
